CHOSEN BY PARENTS AND EDUCATORS!

Erin and Dan Berger

Parents

Upon graduating from Kindergarten, all three of our children entered elementary school extremely well prepared, and all three were considered to be advanced in reading and mathematics. They have continued to succeed in school, and we owe much of their success to Mrs. Iyer's initial way of teaching them "how" to learn.

Zoe Coor

Teacher, ALT

Kickstart is the most dynamic program out there that systematically builds young learners with an all in one multisensory approach.  This program builds a strong literacy foundation with joyful teaching and happy engaged students. Seeing students move from no alphabet knowledge to decoding in weeks is absolutely astounding!

Varun and Urvashi Malhotra

Parents

Both our kids [...] were able to read very early and write beautifully.  Our daughter is now 9, a third grader and our son is six, a first grader.  Their teachers have continued to comment on the strong foundation that they both have in reading and writing.  They are both avid readers and we attribute this to the strong foundation [....] in their early years.

MORE ABOUT OUR CURRICULUM

Sobia and Moez Jafar

Parents

Our older son was reading before he entered Kindergarten, he is also taking advanced math now and we attribute this to Ms. Iyer’s hard work and teaching style.  Ms. Iyer has captured the essence of her reading and writing teaching methods in this wonderful book, and we strongly believe that it will provide good guidance to other teachers involved in early education.

Amelia and James Barter

Parents

Using the methods set forth in these books, our daughter quickly picked up fundamental language and math concepts and skills that continue to serve her well in her education. It has been amazing to see her take off in her reading and writing skills, especially compared to her peers in other (well-regarded programs). She continues to exceed grade-level expectations, and I think this is largely due to the strong foundation she received using these programs.

Elva Riley

Teacher, CALP

Mona has provided excellent instruction in reading and writing to our students. Those students have been successful in the classroom because of her excellent teaching. [...] She also has a breadth of knowledge on how to teach others in early education classrooms how to implement early reading strategies using multimodal techniques.

ABOUT MONA IYER, AMS, CDT, CALT

Mohana Iyer has been in the field of education, focusing on teaching young children for over thirty years. She received her American Montessori Society (AMS) certification in Montessori training from Dallas, Texas and taught at the New Beginnings Montessori in Plano, Texas. Ms. Iyer moved to Maryland in 1996 and was a teacher at the Manor Montessori School in Potomac, Maryland.

As a teacher, Ms. Iyer observed that some children could read easily, and others had difficulty reading even after repeated teaching. To gain more insight into this, she joined the Atlantic Seaboard Dyslexia Education Center (ASDEC) in Rockville, Maryland in 2006. Currently she is a Certified Academic Language Therapist (CALT), Clinical Supervisor, and a Certified Dyslexia Therapist (CDT), and actively conducts Academic Language Therapy sessions from her home office in Maryland. Ms. Iyer’s research focuses on the importance of phonemic awareness and letter recognition in the acquisition of literacy development. With her Montessori background, she started to teach children through a combination of both Montessori and the Multisensory Structured Language Education techniques and found that children in her classroom developed reading skills and were able to read by the time they left the kindergarten program.

These books integrate Ms. Iyer’s extensive early childhood teaching practice with her focused research in literacy development in young children. In her teaching career, Ms. Iyer has taught all her students to read, even children with dyslexia and other learning disabilities. With this curriculum and optional training workshop, Ms. Iyer provides educators and parents with the tools needed to teach foundational reading and math skills to pre-K and Kindergarten students.
